The sense of an ending thinking activity

1. What is the meaning of phrase ‘Blood Money’ in Veronica’s reply email?

In Veronica's reply the blood money phrase refers that the money that Tony had received from Sarah Ford is given after someone's death and the death is related with the person who is giving money. Because of relationship between Sarah Ford and Adrian Sarah becomes pregnant and Adrian commits suicide. So money given to Tony by Sarah, Veronica calls blood money.

2. How do you decipher the equation: b = s – v x/+ a1 or a2 + v + a1 X s = b?

In the first equation Tony is missing. It says that Tony have played no role in born of baby. Second equation says that Tony and Veronica was in relationship. Then Adrian came in and who come into contact with Sarah and by that relationship baby is born.

3. Adrian’s diary is willed to Tony by Sarah Ford. Why did Sarah Ford own it? Why was it in the possession of Veronica?

Through Tony's letter Adrian comes into contact with Sarah Ford, mother of Veronica whom Adrian wanted to propose. But Adrian builds relationship with her mother Sarah instead. So after death of Adrian Sarah gets diary. And after death of her, her daughter Veronica gets the diary.

4. Was the mentally retarded middle aged ‘Adrian’, Tony’s friend who did not commit suicide and was suffering from trauma and thus gone mad, and was living with hidden identity?

No, he is not Tony's friend Adrian. Before committing suicide he writes philosophical letter. Even if he knew he is going to be mad, the letter of suicide seems inappropriate. Veronica's phrase blood money also suggests death of Adrian.

5. How was Veronica related to Adrian, the one suffering in care-in-the-community?

As mental Adrian is son of Sarah Ford Veronica is sister of him. So they are brother and sister in relation.

6. Do you see any missing block – some dot which is not getting connected with the whole or dot missing to get full sense of the novel - in the plot of this psychological thriller?

There is no clear reference of why Adrian committed suicide? It is also not clear who the mental Adrian really is? Or advise son he is?

7. Do you see any possible reason in the suicide of Adrian Finn?

The possible reason of Adrian's suicide is same as Robson. Knowing that he has pregnant the girl. Robson has still choice to marry the girl of his age but in Adrian's case it was awkward. He makes relation with Veronica's mother. And if Tony and Veronica come to know about this then it would be unbearable for Adrian and so when he knows Sarah is pregnant he commits suicide. That is the only possible reason of Adrian's suicide.

8. In the light of new revelations, how do you read character of Veronica? Instinctive, manipulative, calculating, stubborn, haughty, sacrificial, trustworthy, good Samaritan?

In the end of the novel Veronica's character's new aspects come out. She has not married and takes care of his mentally ill brother. She don't give diary to Tony for his good. In the end Tony apologises for his letter and what he had written about her. So there are some good aspects of Veronica's nature who seemed arrogant throughout the novel.

9. What do you mean by Unreliable Narrator? Is Tony Webster classifiable as Unreliable Narrator?

Tony Webster writes this story in his old age. It is his memory. In the second part he himself looks events in different way. There is possibilities that the memory is not correct totally.

The Old Woman - Joseph Campbell

'The Old Woman' is simple and short poem by Joseph Campbell where he compares old woman with different things and describes her. The poem has three stanzas. .In  the first stanza , the poet compares the old lady with the white candle. White colour is symbol of peace and candle is symbol of light. The old woman is like white candle. She is in peace and she gives other people light by his experiences. She is able to show right path who need that. In the second  stanza, the poet compares the old lady with the spent radiance of the winter's sun. It refers old woman's long life. But now she is old like winter's sun, but she has gathered a wide experience of life. Poet writes, "A woman with her travail done" In last stanza, the poet compares the old woman with the water under the ruined mill. The water is still under the ruined mill and by comparing this poet writes about the old lady that her all sons has gone, they do not live with her. But she has all the

To the Indians who died in South Africa - T.S. Eliot

A man's destination is his own village,  His own fire, and his wife's cooking;  To sit in front of his own door at sunset  And see his grandson, and his neighbour's grandson  Playing in the dust together.  Scarred but secure, he has many memories  Which return at the hour of conversation,  (The warm or the cool hour, according to the climate)  Of foreign men, who fought in foreign places,  Foreign to each other.  A man's destination is not his destiny,  Every country is home to one man  And exile to another. Where a man dies bravely  At one with his destiny, that soil is his.  Let his village remember.  This was not your land, or ours: but a village in the Midlands,  And one in the Five Rivers, may have the same graveyard.  Let those who go home tell the same story of you:  Of action with a common purpose, action  None the less fruitful if neither you nor we  Know, until the judgement after death,  What is the fruit of action.  This poem is by T.S

Joy and woe woven are fine - William Blake

In this short poem William Blake wants to give message that joy and grief, both are part of life and both are good. He says joy and woe are woven fine. Woven means things which are attached to each other. Both happiness and grief are fine. They are cloths of our soul. In every grief, there are also joy we need to find it. We are not here for only happiness or for only pain. But we are made for both. And when we know that joy and woe both are part of our life, we can live happily in grief also. So, in this poem poet wants to tell that accept both joy and pain. Do not become unhappy when sad moments come, there are always happy moments also. Know that both are part of everyone's life and live happily. That is all poet wants to say in the poem.
