Children find it adventurous magical story, Some may call it fantasy and say it has nothing to do with reality while some will find serious issues of real life clearly presented in the novel. The task below is part of that process of digging deep from what is on surface.

Here first is film worksheet where questions are given. We supposed to find web sources for it, finding key arguments and then give examples and explanation of how that those things can be found in the film. Then three topics are described with some details and pictures and in the end self evaluation is done.

1. Discourse on the purity of Blood and Harry Potter: How do the novels play with the thesis of pure blood (Master Race) giving an anti-thesis by belonging protagonists to half-blood / Mud-blood? What sort of synthesis is sought in this discourse in Harry Potter series?
Harry Potter is a fiction. Many believe it a children's literature but J.K. Rowling has included realistic feelings and problems in it. She created fictional races like real world. In Harry Potter there are four races. There are pure blood, half blood and mudblood. The families whose ancestors are all magicians are known as pure blood. If one of the parents knows magic and other don't, that child is known as half blood. If person belongs to non magical family that person is called mudblood. In magical world non magical people are known as muggles and for some of them they are inferior. Some magical families hate mudblood and believe that they should never be allowed to learn magic. In novel Malfoy family hates and insult mudbloods. Hermione experiences this insult several times. Salazar Slytherin made a chamber of secrets to kill mudblood students at Hogwarts. So, there are politics of races in Harry Potter and it plays important role in the novel.

2. The theme of Choice and Chance: How does Harry Potter discusses the antithetical concepts of ‘choice’ and ‘chance’?

Some people believe that in life luck is all while some believe that our choices decide our future. Harry Potter novel says that in life chances and our choices both are important. First, it was only chance that Harry lived. When he needed help, help is always there. He gets invisibility cloak when needed. In chamber of secrets phoniex comes to help harry. There are fortune portion also. When Harry can't find way the fortune potion works. But choices have given same importance. Sorting hat puts Harry in Gryffindor because he wanted. Harry doubts that sorting hat may have put him in wrong house but in answer Dumbledore tells him that it is not our abilities that make us, it is our abilities who define us. Serious Black also says same thing. There are good and bad inside us but what path we choose determine us. In the final part, King cross station chapter when Harry meet Dumbledore Dumbledore says Harry that it's your choice to return or not. So both choice and chance are important in life.

3. The discourse of Power and Politics in Harry Potter: How does Ministry of Magic control the resistance? How do they prosecute the ‘Other’?

There are politics, court, and their influence also introduced. In chamber of secrets Malfoy says that Daily Prophet don't print about attacks because Dumbledore must have settle it down. This happen in our world also. Powerful institutions and persons can control media also and right news never known to people. There is ministry of magic who control everything. They make laws and punish them who break them. Ministry of magic interrupt schools also. They appointed Umbridge to the post of Hogwarts high inquisitor to control Hogwarts from inside. When Harry told Voldemort has returned ministry of magic don't believe it and tries to stop students from learning magic. So, politics is present in the novel and it affects school affairs.

The Old Woman - Joseph Campbell

'The Old Woman' is simple and short poem by Joseph Campbell where he compares old woman with different things and describes her. The poem has three stanzas. .In  the first stanza , the poet compares the old lady with the white candle. White colour is symbol of peace and candle is symbol of light. The old woman is like white candle. She is in peace and she gives other people light by his experiences. She is able to show right path who need that. In the second  stanza, the poet compares the old lady with the spent radiance of the winter's sun. It refers old woman's long life. But now she is old like winter's sun, but she has gathered a wide experience of life. Poet writes, "A woman with her travail done" In last stanza, the poet compares the old woman with the water under the ruined mill. The water is still under the ruined mill and by comparing this poet writes about the old lady that her all sons has gone, they do not live with her. But she has all the...

To the Indians who died in South Africa - T.S. Eliot

A man's destination is his own village,  His own fire, and his wife's cooking;  To sit in front of his own door at sunset  And see his grandson, and his neighbour's grandson  Playing in the dust together.  Scarred but secure, he has many memories  Which return at the hour of conversation,  (The warm or the cool hour, according to the climate)  Of foreign men, who fought in foreign places,  Foreign to each other.  A man's destination is not his destiny,  Every country is home to one man  And exile to another. Where a man dies bravely  At one with his destiny, that soil is his.  Let his village remember.  This was not your land, or ours: but a village in the Midlands,  And one in the Five Rivers, may have the same graveyard.  Let those who go home tell the same story of you:  Of action with a common purpose, action  None the less fruitful if neither you nor we  Know, unt...

Joy and woe woven are fine - William Blake

In this short poem William Blake wants to give message that joy and grief, both are part of life and both are good. He says joy and woe are woven fine. Woven means things which are attached to each other. Both happiness and grief are fine. They are cloths of our soul. In every grief, there are also joy we need to find it. We are not here for only happiness or for only pain. But we are made for both. And when we know that joy and woe both are part of our life, we can live happily in grief also. So, in this poem poet wants to tell that accept both joy and pain. Do not become unhappy when sad moments come, there are always happy moments also. Know that both are part of everyone's life and live happily. That is all poet wants to say in the poem.
