The eagle - Lord Tennyson

The Eagle, poem by Alfred Tennyson describes eagle in poetic way very expressively.

The eagle is standing on rocky cliff. The cliff is sharp and jagged, but the eagle can hold on to it, because its claws are crooked. The cliff is so high that it looks closer to the sun than to the earth. There is no other thing than the eagle and he is surrounded by clean blue sky.

There is a sea crawling beneath the cliffs. The eagle watches something, we don't know what but suddenly it falls like a thunderbolt. So poet compares eagles' speed with thunderbolt.

So this is very short and simple poem where poet describes the eagle.

Joy and woe woven are fine - William Blake

In this short poem William Blake wants to give message that joy and grief, both are part of life and both are good. He says joy and woe are woven fine. Woven means things which are attached to each other. Both happiness and grief are fine. They are cloths of our soul. In every grief, there are also joy we need to find it.
