'Yousouf is a poem by James Russel Lowell. It is a moral poem which teaches us about goodness.
Poem opens with a stranger, who comes to Yousouf's tent one night. He asks for food and shelter and says that the tribe calls him 'The good' and that's why he has came there.
Yousouf takes him in and says that the tent is God's. He entertains stranger in night and in morning gives him gold and swiftest horse for his further journey. Yousouf's kind treatment awakens stranger's inner spirit and he confesses that he is Ibrahim who have killed Yousouf's son. But Yousouf does not become angry and offers more gold and says that black thought should be kept away from us. You are avenged and my son is sleeping in peace.
